Metal Tubing Fabricator in Kirkwood is actively seeking an Industrial Engineers to train as Shift Supervisors for 3rd shift in a union production facility. We are seeking a recent college graduate with 1 year or less of experience who are motivated to work, trainable and have the technical education to come in and learn how to run the shift from start to finish. This is a hands on position in a metal fabrication facility where your education and skills will be a very useful tool for your success.

Job Duties will include:

Under the general supervision of the Plant Manager, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for the planning and supervision of employees engaged in the manufacture and assembly of a product. Determines how tasks will be accomplished. Achieves stated goals and objectives. Accepts, performs and is accountable for the results of assigned duties. Evaluates necessary resources. Identifies and informs superior of departmental problems and solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Operators.
    1. Scheduling
      1. Daily assignments.
      2. Optimize operator selection for daily tasks.
      3. On time completion & delivery of parts.
      4. Light maintenance and repairs.
    2. Proper staffing to meet Production requirements.
      1. Realignment
    3. Training.
      1. Testing.
      2. Annual review.
      3. Daily observations and reviews.
        1. Efficiency
        2. Downtime
        3. Safety & Housekeeping
      4. New equipment.
        1. Insure all qualified operators receive adequate training.
        2. Document & Maintain training log.
    4. Housekeeping.
      1. All equipment is returned to proper location.
      2. All tooling is cleaned prior to returning to location.
      3. All damaged tooling and gauging repaired / replaced.
      4. Lines are cleaned prior to end of the shift or order completion.
      5. Support of 5S activities
    5. Safety
      1. “Zero” Lost time accidents
      2. Less than 12 total “Recordable” accidents for calendar year.
      3. Timely completion of accident investigations.
    6. Monthly summaries:
      1. Management Review.
        1. Efficiencies (reasons up / down).
          1. Corrective measures
        2. Excessive production time (production hours).
          1. Corrective measures
        3. Reasons for part reject, rework hours and scrap.
          1. Corrective measures
        4. Downtime (reasons).
          1. Corrective measures
        5. Safety record for month and YTD.
        6. Performance to plan.
          1. Proposed changes to achieve plan.

Qualifications:

  • College Degree or Technical School Degree in Industrial Engineering.
  • 1 year of less of experience
