Metal Tubing Fabricator in Kirkwood is actively seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to oversee and strategize improvements for the manufacturing processes and production equipment.

Job Description:
As Manufacturing Engineer you will oversee and strategize improvements for the manufacturing processes and production equipment at Bohn and Dawson. This may cover many types of equipment including punch presses, automated benders, lasers, CNC machines and other dedicated equipment for processing Bohn and Dawson products. The Manufacturing Engineer is a hands-on employee who assists in the development of manufacturing processes and testing which will ultimately be submitted to production personnel. Part of this process will be to identify and inform the design and production groups of problem areas and facilitating team events to mitigate these issues.

Reports to Vice President of Operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Complete production readiness reviews to ensure all aspects of the process have been addressed properly. This review includes:

a. Tooling

b. Gauging

c. Fixtures

d. Guarding

e. Ergonomics

f. Efficiency

g. Quality (Error Proofing)

2. Supporting new product launches

3. Working closely with production, maintenance personnel and suppliers to ensure timely completion of projects.

4. Analyzing tooling and equipment and selecting proper steps for solutions.

5. Supporting plant in achieving safety, quality, delivery and cost goals.

6. Evaluating expenditures for processes and/or equipment.

7. Propose new production methods or process during capital expenditure reviews

8. Participate in and lead continuous improvement activities such as Kaizen events, SMED events and 5S initiatives.

Job Requirements:

Education
Four year degree in a related Engineering discipline. Mechanical Engineering preferred.

Knowledge

  • Experience leading/facilitating continuous improvement activities
  • Sound knowledge of manufacturing practices and plant floor environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Excellent communicator both written and verbally
